Basic Fanuc Maintenance
Instruction on the basics of Fanuc controls and architecture; students will gain an understanding between the Fanuc side of the CNC (NC), the machine tool side (machine OEM side) and the interaction between the two via the PMC; exposure to the parameters and diagnostics related to the NC and the PMC and the difference between the two; familiarization with documentation from both Fanuc and the machine tool OEM to lookup alarm faults, basic troubleshooting guides, and parameter descriptions. An understanding of Fanuc's servo/spindle drives and motors including the identification of part numbers, and the different ways Fanuc implements them based on the control series.
Advanced Fanuc Maintenance
Advanced instruction of Fanuc CNC controls. Topics include advanced troubleshooting using diagnostics and trace function on those controls that have that capability; troubleshooting power supplies and servo/spindle drive alarms using Fanuc documentation; learining how to swap out power supplies, drives and control boards; NC & PMC parameters and how to make changes and backups; setting up RS-232 serial communication and memory card operations (where applicable) and performing memory backups.
